I was a great fan of the legendary English highwayman Robin Hood who loved robbing the rich to pay the poor.
That's why I enjoy taking money from the horribly corrupt horse racing industry and helping my clients make a profit. Nice,too, when the hard cold facts show that every $1 invested on in the last 3.5 years has officially become $2.21.
It's an industry full of anger and hatred and plenty of toilers losing the plot. Like Palmerston North trainer Gary Vile, who was recently fined $350 for using " insulting and abusive language " towards one of the racing industry's handicappers. As per:
“and I will get on National TV and tell them what a f****** idiot you are” and “you are a dickhead and I am telling you straight out I hope you are recording because you are a straight out dickhead”
A few weeks earlier our favourite trainer this season, Ralph Manning, copped a $6000 fine for his outburst on Trackside Channel, towards another member of the NZTR team:
“You wouldn’t know with our handicapper, he’s about the most corrupt person in racing,”
From the inquiry: " Mr Manning, by his own admission, acknowledged that he had used the wrong forum to express his views. He conceded that he had no evidence of any ‘corruption’ on Mr Scelly’s part. Mr Manning added that he left school at 15, was not well educated and conceded today’s charge arose from his poor choice of words."
I can sympathise with Vile and Manning, for they are dealing with " fucking idiots " and " dickheads " most of the time. Without forgetting the incredibly low returns to owners who pay around $90 a day to keep a horse in training and statistics that show around 8% of these gallopers actually pay their way !
So the average ownership dollar returns about 8 cents. The average punter gets 83 cents back for the $1 after commissions and taxes, and we get $2.21 for our " contribution."
There's no shortage of disillusioned dickheads in the doomed industry. We're only investing in around 20 races per year. When the racing calendar dwindles down to that many, then I'll start worrying.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF RACING FAN
A while back a Polynesian resident of Otahuhu named Nancy phoned me. She didn't know about computers or email or 0900 numbers or Trackside Channel so she got a special deal where she could phone me personally on race morning and write down the " Counties Race ? horse number ? horse name ? ". I once had to spell out a galloper named " K E E N." ( Like Ralph Manning-----" not well educated ? " )
So Nancy would waddle up to her local TAB and hand the piece of paper to the operator with her $100 for a place. Next day she'd waddle up, hand over her ticket and collect on average around $160 or $170. After 7 consecutive collects the " ATM " rejected her........." Sorry, ma'am," said the operator. " This ticket is worthless."
Nancy phoned me in a state of shock. She wasn't angry, just " very surprised." She soon bounced back, unaware that her $100 investments could keep these noble beasts in training for maybe 26 hours......

I wondered about the Astrology of breast cancer after hearing about a female horse trainer who recently had a breast removed.
With a time of arrival gained many years ago, it was only natural to investigate and consider the state of her 6th house that relates to health, diet and employment matters. Especially difficult if the heavy planets like Pluto, Uranus and Neptune are involved.
I've noted many health mysteries involving sixth house planets, like the prominent, late broadcaster Sir Paul Holmes with Uranus in the 6th which supervised his prostrate cancer.

Watching the small-minded members of the incestuous industry bickering and blaming everyone else is also reasonably humourous. Without mentioning the clueless media imbeciles evading the obvious need to cultivate role models.
Not a media mention of leading New Zealand jockey Leith Innes, facing surgery for facial injuries and time out after a bar room brawl on Brisbane over the weekend , when he'd been on the piss with fellow Kiwi rider Vinnie Colgan. Brisbane ain't exactly a happy place for Innes, who 7 years ago copped a 6-months disqualification from the Queensland stewards after returning a positive to Ecstasy.
Now there's been no shortage of league and rugby champions in the spotlight for their fighting, boozing or womanising. The fans love it and the Konrad Hurrell sex scandal recently hasn't exactly driven people away from the NZ Warriors.
Lest we not forget the desire of former chief racecourse inspector John McKenzie to " protect our rising stars "..... as per sweeping all of the racing uglies under the carpet. Negative Pluto and Uranus transits can be a real bastard.

Something didn't feel right,so I announced my retirement from competitive indoor netball at the gym next day. Very logically, too, bowing out on top while unbeaten, in a blaze of glory.

Partnering Otahuhu rugby league's meanest crash tackler in the D circle, possibly marking a pair of female goal shooters ? A great honour and another adventure........we sealed the deal with a handshake.
But big Dane never got there. Badly concussed in an interim rugby league grand final. Half his face was black, the other half, dark black. I played, another win but that was it. Back to the gym for a spa with a further announcement that possibly the only unbeaten netball player in the world was retiring from Viva La Beaver who were on top of their ladder.
Minutes later the heroics became hobbles. Pain from a sore achilles but next day James Blackwell assured me that a couple of days off training would fix it. Wrong, 3 days afterwards the resident physio ordered 3 months of rest. " Only walk if you really have to. And no playing tag football. "
Oh gee, I just want to run off James Blackwell and score a touchdown.

Coaches are often censured for selecting players under bad Plutos so the blame must rest with the boss lady of Viva La Beaver.

Likewise the vanquished Kevin Rudd was doomed to have Uranus ( Aries 9 ) and Pluto ( Capricorn 9 ) crushing his natal Jupiter ( Libra 9 ) in 2013.

Two days later it was revealed to Humm Fm listeners that the Warriors would be upsetting the then unbeaten Melbourne Storm in Melbourne on April 25. Two days after that the NZ Warriors suffered their 30-point humiliation to the Sharks. Elliott was sacked the following day.
Naturally I was stunned when Elliott got sacked. Although I had shiveringly noticed beforehand that Elliott's Mars was getting attacked by that same Chiron on April 5, the day the Warriors got pummelled by the Sharks.

Benji Marshall, 29, is planning a return to Sydney and switching back to league after just eight months back in his home country playing for the Blues.
He moved to New Zealand last year after finishing with the league side Wests Tigers.
Of course it was indicated here a few days ago that there was upcoming movement for Benji .And you gotta wonder why everything's gone wrong for him after the fairytale, celebrity marriage just over a year ago ?

Eric Watson and co have messed up very badly over the " sacking " of Matthew Elliott as head coach.It's not only a PR disaster but also an unforgiveable move ignoring a coach coming into some awesome Pluto phases. Perhaps Watson himself is haunted by a previous bad experience involving a " Saggy Draggy ? "
Saggy Draggy = a Sagittarius born in an Oriental Dragon year of 1964 like Elliott or 1976, Nicky Watson !

This puts me in the same boat as legendary USA television interviewer Larry King.

I wonder what percentage, if any, of cops would deem alcohol to be safer ? Probably around the same percentage of humans that are aware of the incredible health benefits of marijuana. It's known that there have been 34 medical studies proving conclusively that Cannabis can kill cancer.
Cannabis can also reduce neurological impairment,treat glaucoma, cure epilepsy and leukaemia and prevent alzheimers.Cousin hemp also makes paper, biodegradable plastic, fuel, solvents, industrial textiles.It could end deforestation and dependence on oil, gas and coal.
38 years. That's a long time, when you consider the number of beer bellies and crimson faces that have been created, not to mention all the messed up livers and prostrates and assaults and road deaths caused by the evil alcohol.
Legalisation and decriminalisation is catching on in the USA . 1,683 pounds of marijuana are being sold in Colorado every month.

Lawyer knows all about the technicalities and doing deals with the cops. Astrologer knows if you're gonna get found guilty and how long you'll spend in one of those 12th house institutions.
In fact I had an ex-con marvelling while I was explaining a jail classic to him yesterday. A matter relevant to a contract killing.

A bit over 2 years ago I didn't know who Kim Dotcom was. Now he's one of my favourite subjects.
Dotcom and his associates were in jail in January 2012 after the sensational commando-style raid on his Coatesville mansion. A fellow with a multitude of health problems definitely in need of some hope.
The Astrological is renowned for demonstrating when a dark tunnel shall be filled with light. Yes, Otahuhu, in the lower socio-economic region I've renamed " The Chocolate Triangle. " So each January I would tell Deaker an " Otahuhu story " so he might learn that there ain't nothing wrong with being surrounded by the coloured people.
There was partying with the extremely talkative younger bro of boxing champ David Tua.....the voluntary work with humble black African refugees.....the hospitality of the local Black Power chapter one Christmas Day.......owning a mixed Tag Football team that was 100% Maori/Polynesian........successfully campaigning with a Tongan lawyer, a Maori boxing coach and one of Sonny Bill Williams' Samoan uncles to drive a tyrannical proprietor out of our favourite swimming pool. Etc
So I felt extremely priviledged when Sonny Bill's " lifestyle " also attracted the criticism of Deaker. As per on SKY TV a few years back when Deaker had a problem with SBW because he was " a muslim ! "
I wondered about " Judge Deaker." Turned 69 last week and has only ever lived in Dunedin or Auckland's North Shore. A reformed alcoholic, after causing so much grief in his family as a heavy drunk in his early 30s, but hardly a man of worldliness and experience. Careers in schoolteaching and sports broadcasting but never brave enough to do the big wander and go see the world.
As a reformed alcoholic, Deaker should have some appreciation of the sobriety and temperance of muslims. These Uranus and Pluto attacks on the North Node are commensurate with major losses, although not all result in a mysterious disappearance. Same combination in the natal chart of Team NZ skipper Dean Barker merely supervised the choke of all time against Oracle last year, while Pluto and Uranus were both attacking the natal Sun of the Team NZ CEO Grant Dalton in 2013 as well.

THE FUNNIEST READING OF ALL

Not often do you get a female client fronting up with $100 and 10 minutes later fleeing in fear of her life:
Almost a year ago, a female phoned me one Saturday afternoon, in urgent need of a reading.
It sounded a bit strange, although just recently a gentleman with a multi-national corporation had requested same at six hours notice. He had to decide between 3 options---promotion to Dubai or Brisbane or stay put.
I had a bad hunch about this. My bad for not following. The female turned up with a male companion, who looked a bit dodgy, she placed 5 x $20 notes on the computer table and I started to record the reading.
After 3 minutes of Astrological dialogue the overweight half cast boyfriend jumps up and produces a taser, and suddenly I'm on the floor, gagged and they're trying to tie my hands. I managed to rip the gag off and wriggle away then let fly with a powerful kick to the nuts and this really hurt the male offender. Female bolted, he followed suit and in my tasered state stumbled to the door to notice a Tongan neighbour who was only too keen to give chase.
50 metres later he apprehended the male offender, who managed to wriggle away shirtless and the Tongan man stopped. Not as fit as in his first XV rugby days, and 2 younger Tongan relatives happened to be standing by the bus shelter.
On instructions a younger Tongan ran, as the male offender attempted to reach the moving getaway car, and crash tackled him on Panama Road. On the tarseal !
Two police vehicles arrived, to the sight of this sad-looking, shirtless oaf, surrounded by 3 large Tongans and a stunned palagi, who was trying to convince the crash tackler to " come down and meet Mr Elliott " a.k.a coach of the woesome NZ Warriors rugby league team on a losing streak of 4 or 5 at the time, and desperately in need of a fearless crash tackler.
The male offender was bundled away in handcuffs, numerous statements taken and my place declared a crime scene. I was eventually allowed back in and noticed that the " Astrological reading " was still being recorded on the computer. Two hours and 50 minutes later!
Very little, though, after the first 10 minutes of intense dialogue, so that was put on a CD. Detective X would find that very interesting when I drop it in on Monday morning to the Otahuhu police.
But Sunday morning another constable comes knocking, in search of a neighbour who'd made a statement that needed some more info. So I gave the CD to this guy with instructions to give to detective X but later on Sunday night there's a call from an excited female detective Y, who had also been at the crime scene:
" I've just come on duty and listened to that tape. It's gold, he's facing much more serious charges now. And it's saved us a lot of work. "
The male offender pleaded guilty and two very influential members of the Auckland gang scene told me to " make sure you find out which prison he goes to." Further punishment can be just a phone call away.
Bad news, in that respect. Detective Y updated me and the male offender was unfortunately sentenced to an indefinite stay in a psychiatric institution.
The $100 cash had been taken away by the police and eventually returned to me in cheque after being approved by 4 separate agencies.
Lessons were learned about being selective with clients. Still the quickest reading ever, and the funniest.
POPE FRANCIS TALKING SHIT AGAIN

Back in May 1975 there was a " compulsory stop " erected on Auckland's southern motorway.
Yep, around 2 a.m on a Monday, complete with the yellow and white road markings, just under the Greenlane roundabout near Ellerslie Racecourse.
Three labourers doing the painting and erecting of 2 signs, with the lookout man above and the getaway driver shitting themselves as a cop car came onto the roundabout. It turns right onto the motorway, we're in trouble, but the constabulary thankfully continued towards the getaway car and I gave them a friendly acknowledgement before doing another loop and returning to collect the rest of the saboteurs.
Three years later, 2 of the 5 members of Motorway Improvements Ltd were dead. The lookout man wrote off a large motorbike he'd owned for 7 days. Another eventually sought some career stability and joined the police, but he committed suicide after getting into some serious trouble.
Many were surprised that these 2 badly-behaved youths had managed to last into their early 20s and some had theories on their ultimate destination, similar to the recently published views of this joker:
